Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lashed out at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan over his apparent U-turn on ‘foreign conspiracy narrative’.
“The nation is shocked by his deceit & treachery inflicting irreparable damage on Pakistan,” the premier said in a tweet, adding that the PTI chief’s interview was a reminder of the vicious role he played to harm Pakistan’s external relations.
A day earlier, Imran Khan in an interview with the Financial Times said that he no longer “blames” the United States for his ouster from office via a vote of no-confidence in April this year, adding that he wanted a “dignified” relationship between Washington and Islamabad.
Imran also admitted that a visit to Moscow a day before the Ukraine invasion in February, for which his government claimed the US had reservations, was “embarrassing” but said the trip was organised months in advance.
Reacting to Imran Khan’s interview with the newspaper, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb in a series of tweets said that the PTI chief must have to reply for his “US conspiracy theory” narrative as the matter would not end after he gave up on the conspiracy stance.
She said Imran Khan’s abandonment of his US conspiracy narrative also raise questions for his followers.
The information minister said the true face of the so-called “Haqeeqi Azadi” has completely been exposed
