After the martyrdom of five policemen in Ghotki, the police decided to continue their operation against the dacoits in the Kacha area of Rawanti.
On Saturday night, at least five policemen including a deputy superintendent of police and two station house officers (SHOs) lost their lives when over 150 dacoits attacked a police camp in the Kacha area of the Ghotki district.
According to reports, the police party was camping in the Kacha area of Rawanti when the dacoits attacked the camp and killed three senior police officers and injured many others.
They took away the bodies of the killed policemen, however, returned the bodies after a few hours.
The police were seeking to recover hostages.
Rawanti has been a no-go area for the police, including common people, for two decades. The number of dacoits is reported to be massive and they reportedly have modern weapons, including anti-aircraft guns and rocket launchers.
After the death of dacoit Salto Shar, the bandits were continuously threatening that they would take revenge.
Dacoit, Sanaullah Shar, accepted the responsibility of killing policemen, declaring the killing as revenge for Salto Sharr. In his video message shared on social media platform, Sanaullah Shar said that the SSP was sitting in the office and he did not have the courage to face them.
“If the police come to our places again, they will suffer more losses. It is our favor to the police that their bodies were not kept in possession,” Sanaullah Shar said in his message.
Meanwhile, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon reached Ghotki yesterday and assured the police officers of full support to speed up the operation and issued orders to continue the operation until the dacoits were eliminated.
Talking to the media after offering condolences to the bereaved families in Ghotki on Monday, the IG vowed that the police would give a befitting response to November 5 martyrdom of policemen allegedly by dacoits in Rawanti area in Ubauro.
“The nature of duty is such that we suffer losses some times,” the province’s police chief said, adding that the police were revisiting their strategy and that proper surveillance of the hideouts of dacoits and better intelligence collection would precede the impending operation.
