At least five policemen, including the district superintendent of police (DSP) and two SHOs, were martyred in a gun battle with dacoits in the Kacha area of Ghotki, Sindh.
Reports suggest that over 150 bandits stormed a police camp located in Rawanti area of Ghotki killing five cops including DSP Abdul Malik Bhutto and two SHOs.
The police camp was set up in Kacha for an operation to recover hostages in the area.
Dacoits also held ten cops hostage in the camp and took control of eight vehicles of Sindh police.
After the causalities, a heavy contingent of police and Sindh Rangers rushed to the Kacha area for operation against the dacoits.
The reports said that the funeral prayers of all five policemen had been offered at SSP Mirpur Mathelo’s office.
DSP Abdul Malik Bhutto, SHO Abdul Malik Kamangar, SHO Deen Muhammad Leghari and two police constables, Saleem Chachadar and Jatoi Patafi were killed in the attack.
CM Sindh takes notice of the incident
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the killing of five policemen and ordered a full-scale operation against dacoits in Kacha area of Ghotki.
Chief Minister House spokesperson said that the chief minister had taken the notice of the incident in which police officers were martyred and sought a detailed report.
He said that the chief minister expressed his regret over the martyrdom of the police personnel and gave his deepest condolences to the families of martyred police officers.
