ISLAMABAD: Journalist Arshad Sharif was buried in Islamabad’s H-11 graveyard, shortly after his funeral prayers were offered at the Shah Faisal Mosque in the capital.
Sharif’s body arrived in Pakistan yesterday (Wednesday). It was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for another post-mortem before being handed over to the family.
There was heavy security at the mosque as well as roads leading to it, with 3,792 security personnel deployed around the Faisal Mosque. Sindh Police and Frontier Corps have been deployed to assist Islamabad Police.
According to the Pims medical director, the preliminary report will be completed within 24 hours. However, forensics will take a few days.
Professor Hashim Raza said that the request for post-mortem was made by Arshad Sharif’s wife and Ramna police.
