Mithi gang-rape case: DNA test of the accused ordered

The Sindh High Court has ordered for the DNA of four men accused of gang-raping a young woman in Mithi to be tested and a report be furnished in two weeks.

The DIG of Mirpurkhas Zulfikar Mehar, SSP Tharparkar Hassan Sardar and the family appeared in court on Thursday.

The DIG submitted a progress report that four men had been arrested but they were still investigating. The rape took place on September 8 and the FIR was registered on September 18. It is not clear if the victim died by suicide or was murdered.

SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh said the accused had to cooperate with the plaintiff and his family.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, the DIG Mehar said that the CJ heard the plaintiff and the witnesses in detail. To a question, he said that the plaintiff and witnesses were satisfied with the police investigation.

Earlier, the CJ had summoned DIG and SSP, taking notice of news about the suicide of a young woman after she was gang-raped in Kaloi, ​​Tharparkar but that the police were refusing to take action against influential people.

Case

The woman was from Tharparkar’s village Mehran Soomro, which is part of Kaloi Town.

She was abducted a week ago by unidentified persons, who raped her before dropping her off at a remote location near the village.

In her written police complaint, the victim claimed that she was abducted while going to Hyderabad to collect formal documents for her father’s pension.

Her post-mortem was performed at the district hospital late Sunday night.
