Federal Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir Khan said that the power transmission system had been fully restored in flood-affected areas across the country.
“The transmission system was badly damaged by the unprecedented floods, as power poles were washed away in some areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the minister said while addressing a press conference in Gujranwala on Sunday.
Dastgir said that load shedding had been controlled during summer by running all power plants in the country, adding that the oil and power prices were likely to decrease from next month which would help to lower the prices of other items.
The minister said that the difficult time had passed and now economic conditions would improve gradually.
“This is the time to help the flood affectees rather than doing politics,” he added.
Lashing out at PTI Chairperson Imran Khan for spending millions on holding rallies, he said that if PTI had enough money to hold rallies, it should spend this money on the rehabilitation of flood affectees, adding that the PTI chief was doing politics of threats and anarchy.
“Imran Khan is only good enough to level allegations against others,” the minister said and added that the PTI had nothing to tell the people about the progress they had made in their four-year tenure.
He said that the coalition government had put its political repute at stake to save the country.
