Floods in Sindh: The devastating situation due to floods in Sindh has resulted in the outbreak of various diseases including gastroenteritis. Four children died due to gastroenteritis in Ahmedpur and Faizganj areas of Khairpur, takes death toll to 20 children died in ten days. Similar cases reported in Sindh’s Shahdadkot as more and more children are being admitted to hospital with dysentry and diarrhoea.
Dadu drowning: Flooding in various areas of Sindh including Dadu, as the water pressure on Kotri Barrage continues to increase. The water inflow at Kotri Barrage upstream was recorded to be 604,147 cusecs. Villages in Tando Allah Yar submerged as victims await relief, demand that water is drained from their houses.
Inspection: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Dera Ismail Khan district today to inspect the flood-affected Sago Bridge. He will be briefed by the DI Khan commissioner and National Highway Authority officials.
Court cases: An Islamabad district and sessions court will hear the case of violation of Article 144 against Imran Khan and other leaders of PTI. Accused filed plea for exemption from hearing. The accused have bail till September 27.
A special court will hear the money laundering case against PM Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz. Charges are yet to be filed due to the non-appearance of Shehbaz Sharif. The court expressed displeasure over non-presentation of records of ten accounts. It had summoned relevant officials of the banks as well as the premier and his son. The application for opening the salary accounts of Ramzan Sugar Mills and Chiniot Sugar Mills was approved. An application was also filed seeking the acquittal of Shehbaz and Hamza.
In another case, an accountability court will hear the application against freezing of assets of the Shehbaz Sharif family. Meanwhile, former speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser is expected to appear before the Federal Investigation Agency in the PTI prohibited funding case.
