Relief for power consumers comes in effect

ISLAMABAD: The implementation process for grant of relief to power consumers having 201-300 units over fuel charge adjustment as announced by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif began with the issuance of a notification by the relevant ministry.

“Non-ToU domestic, non-protected consumers having 201-300 units consumption would not pay any FCA in August billing month,” said the notification issued by the energy ministry. “All the power distribution companies including K-Electric have been directed to implement the decision.”

The fuel charge adjustment was added to the electricity bills for the month of August which drew citizens’ protest.

The revised bills were being issued with an extension in due date as per the premier’s directives.

“Those consumers who had paid their August bills would get the credit of the FCA amount in their September bills,” it said.

Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb also shared the development in a tweet and shared the notification.

“The relief announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was applicable on the consumers who used less than 300 units of electricity,” she said, “consumers using 300 units or less would not be charged fuel adjustment charged in electricity bills.”
