Bollywood star Salman Khan applies for gun license amid death threats

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has applied for an arms license with the Mumbai Police for his protection. Khan became embroiled in the controversy following the murder of Sidhu Moosewala earlier this year, and the actor reportedly received death threats.

The accused, Lawrence Bishnoi, in the Moosewala case has threatened the star and his father post the blackbuck poaching case. Khan challenged his five-year conviction in a 1998 case relating to the hunting of two blackbucks in the District and Session Court on April 5, 2018.

Bishnoi admitted during an interrogation that he plotted to kill Salman Khan. He also told the police that his community will never forgive Salman Khan for killing a blackbuck when he was shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ in Rajasthan. Blackbucks are considered sacred by the Bishnoi community.

Following this, the Maharashtra Home Department beefed up the actor’s security.

According to Indian media, the actor and his father received a threatening letter from Bandra Bandstand Promenade in Mumbai.

A Mumbai police official has confirmed that Salman Khan has applied for a gun license.

The actor submitted a written application to the Mumbai police, for which he appeared before the authority for physical verification. Sources said that physical verification was a mandatory step in the process.
