Strict action will be taken against any violence: Rana Sanaullah

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has warned PTI Chairperson Imran Khan against the law and order problems, saying the law will take its due course if Imran tried to sabotage the writ of the state.

“If they try to cause any kind of disturbance, they will be dealt with strictly,” the interior minister said while addressing a press conference along with Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb Friday, following the victory of Hamza Shahbaz in the election of the chief minister of Punjab.

“We will stop him if he tries to disturb the law and order situation,” he warned, adding that an “arrogant man” like Imran wanted to spread anarchy in the country, but his way was blocked.

He said strict action will be taken against anyone resorting to violence and the rule of law will be ensured at all costs.

The minister said his party believed in the politics of decency and civility and will continue serving people.

He said no parliamentarian can vote against the direction of the party head as per the Supreme Court’s ruling.

“Not only will their votes be cancelled but those members will be de-seated as well,” Sanaullah said, while speaking about the Punjab Assembly deputy speaker’s ruling of rejecting the PML-Q members’ votes after the party chief’s directions.

Earlier, Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari refused to count the 10 votes cast by the PML-Q MPAs citing, Article 63 (1) (A) of the Constitution of Pakistan after PML-Q Chief Chaudhry Shujaat directed his party leaders to cast their votes in favour of Hamza.

Hamza regained his CM seat as the PML-Q chief’s letter made the Punjab Assembly deputy speaker refuse to count the votes of his party lawmakers.

Sanaullah thanked Shujaat for withdrawing support from PTI-PML-Q joint candidate Pervaiz Elahi and called his decision as ‘prudent’.

“PML-N and all the allies of government have appreciated Shujaat’s support. The ex-prime minister has always played a pivotal part in promoting democracy,” Sanaullah said.

“Today is the day of democracy and endurance.”
