Karachi teen Dua Zahra’s disappearance from Karachi and ensuing marriage has dominated headlines since mid April. In the latest development in the case, it has been revealed that Zaheer Ahmed, the husband, was in Karachi at the time Dua Zahra was reported missing.
The investigation officer (IO) submitted his report to the court, which included details of Zaheer’s call detail records (CDR). As per the CDR, Zaheer was in Karachi at the time when Dua Zahra mysteriously went missing.
Dua Zehra went missing from her home in Karachi in April and resurfaced in Bahawalnagar, married to Zaheer Ahmed. Dua has claimed that she met Zaheer on PUBG. During court appearances and in interviews, Dua had maintained that she travelled from Karachi to Lahore on her own.
The couple have previously appeared before the Sindh High Court, which ruled that Dua Zahra was free to live with whoever she wanted. The ruling was based on a court-order medical test that determined Dua to be 17 years old.
The father of the teenage girl approached the Supreme Court in response, challenging the SHC verdict in the case. The court disposed of the hearing, telling the petitioner to take up the court at the relevant forum.
The case was then re-rerouted to a local court which ordered the formation of a 10-member board comprising experts in various medical fields - later increased to 11 members - to determine Dua Zahra’s age. Results from the board revealed that her medical age was between 14-15, in line with the NADRA records.
