KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly lawmakers could not stop their laughter when fervent MQM’s Nasir Hussain Qureshi described the opposition party PTI “as bigger thieves than themselves” during a session on Friday.
“When you [PTI] met with us [MQM] we thought you would bring change, ‘Naya Pakistan’, however, we did not know that you are bigger thieves than us,” he said as the house members, who were wearing headphones to hear the speech, started laughing and thumped the desk.
It was not just the treasury benches, who were amused at the criticism. PTI leaders Khurram Sher Zaman and Firdous Shamim Naqvi were also laughing at the jibe, prompting the assembly speaker to ask lawmakers to maintain order in the house.
Nasir had also slammed the PPP-led Sindh government over incomplete projects and handing over the schools to non-governmental organizations.
“You have handed over everything to NGO, I request you to also give the Sindh government to the NGO,” he said.
