Pakistan, China vow to boost counter-terrorism cooperation

Pakistan and China have vowed to enhance their training, technology, and counter-terrorism cooperation, the armed forces military wing said.

The consensus was reached during a senior-level-tri-service meeting between a military delegation of Pakistan led by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and the Chinese side, which was led by General Zhang Youxia, the vice chairman of Central Military Commission of China, the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement issued on Saturday.

Both sides discussed their perspectives on the international and regional security situation and expressed satisfaction with defence cooperation.

The Pakistani delegation was visiting China from June 9 to 12 where it also held wide-ranging discussions with other government departments.

“Pakistan and China reaffirmed their strategic partnership in challenging times and agreed to continue the regular exchange of perspectives on issues of mutual interest,” it said.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on May 22, met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and discussed ways to boost bilateral ties.
