Punjab finance minister expected within two days as budget comes out on 13th

LAHORE: The Punjab budget for the financial year 2022-23 would be presented on Monday, June 13, the provincial government spokesperson Attaullah Tarar said.

“The decision on who will present the budget will be decided within two days, whether a member from the provincial cabinet will be given this [finance] portfolio or else the decision to extend the cabinet is also under consideration,” he said while talking to reporters in Lahore.

Provinces are next after the federal government presented its outlay for the next fiscal year on Friday. Finance Minister Mifah Ismail, who presented the budget in the National Assembly, said the government has encouraged the poor to buy local instead of the rich spending on imported items.

Hopefully, Tarar added the provincial government would also decide on such consideration within two days. Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz has decided to present a “people-friendly” budget and the government would give relief to lower class, salaried class, and daily-wage earner segments of the society.

The Punjab government criticised the PTI government for not providing relief to the public in its tenure. He also accused the Imran-led party of making allegations against Turkish investors and sending them behind bars.
