Peshawar Zoo had a smashing breeding season with at least 300 birds and 30 animals of various species being born there in the last three months.
The young ones were born to zebras, spotted deer, Arabian Oryx and other animals, while more chicks are expected in the coming months as the breeding season continues during the summer, said Dr Abdul Qadir, a veterinary officer at the zoo.
The young animals and birds will eventually be sent to other zoos across the country, he added.
The management has had to ramp up heat relief measures for the animals, especially after the birth of the new animals.
Air coolers and sprinkles have been installed in cages while trees and other shrubbery have been planted in the zoo.
