The Bollywood rumour mill has been churning out speculation after speculation about the date of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor's big day.
According to Indian news sources, the festivities are expected to kick off on April 13 and continue till April 17. The bride and groom-to-be have neither confirmed nor denied any of these reports.
The reason behind rushing the affair seems to be Bhatt’s grandfather’s deteriorating health. “Alia’s grandfather Narendra Razdan wanted to see her getting married to Ranbir. A hush-hush wedding has thus been planned for April 17 which will be a close-knit family affair,” a source close to the couple told Indian news outlet ET Times.
Rumours around the wedding gained more momentum after India Today reported that Kapoor’s mother Neetu Kapoor was spotted at celebrity designer Manish Malhotra’s store, after which Manish was also seen at their house.
The couple themselves also visited India’s leading bridal wear designer Beena Kannan, who posted pictures with them on her Instagram.
Bhatt however is expected to wear Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi outfits for her wedding celebrations, as reported by entertainment news platform Pinkvilla.
Sabyasachi is the go-to wedding designer for Bollywood weddings and has dressed Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Katrina Kaif among others on their big days.
The ceremony is expected to take place at the RK ancestral properties in the Mumbai suburb of Chembur, with close family members in attendance. The couple will throw a reception for their industry colleagues later. According to PinkVilla, the festivities will include a sangeet, a henna event and a bachelor party for the groom that he’s planning with his friends Arjun Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Ayan Mukerji.
Speaking about marriage during a recent interview with India Today, Bhatt had said, “When people ask me one persistent question, ‘When are you getting married? When are you getting married? When are you getting married?’ I’m like, firstly, it’s not anybody’s business and secondly, if you ask me honestly, marriage is a state of mind and that’s what I feel in terms of the peace I feel with my relationship. I’m already there. So, let’s move on, and whenever it has to happen, it will happen as per my desires and as per his desires. That’s something that’ll take its time.”
Bhatt and Kapoor started dating in 2018 when they started working together on the film ‘Brahmastra.’ The Ayan Mukerji directorial will be released this year in September.
