Mother strangles two minor daughters to death in Islamabad

A woman in Islamabad strangled her two female toddlers to death and later attempted suicide, reported Aaj News on Thursday.

Police arrested the mother, who strangled her two children, five and three, to death for being "stubborn". The incident took place in the limits of Shams Colony police station, according to the report.

The children's bodies were shifted to the nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Disgruntled cop's attempted suicide

Meanwhile in Lahore on Wednesday, a policeman attempted to take his own life at Abbas Lines after he was not allowed to go on leave even after the passage of three months.

According to a social media video that surfaced on the internet, policeman Farooq initially threatened to shoot himself but his colleagues were able to dissuade him from doing so.

He then climbed upon a water tank and threatened to jump. His second attempt was also thwarted and he was taken into police custody. An investigation has been launched into his attempt and related incidents.

Torched to death

In another incident, Punjab police on Wednesday arrested a man who had killed his pregnant wife by setting her on fire a few days ago.

According to details, the accused Allah Dita wanted to sell his wife's house against her wishes. The dispute led to the man setting his wife on fire, which also caused their house to burn down. The accused escaped from the scene with the couple's three-year-old daughter.

The victim's mother registered the FIR and police officials have said that legal processing against the accused has began.
