A 5.3 magnitude earthquake jolted Skardu, Chilas, and the surrounding areas of Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday evening, Aaj News reported.
According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre tremors were felt at 7:31pm. The center was 26 kilometers north of Astor and had a depth of 45km.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. However, the Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khursheed directed the Pakistan Disaster Management (PDM) and other concerned departments to remain alert.
Last week on Friday a 4.2-magnitude earthquake had jolted parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the tremors were felt in Mansehra, Torghar, Battagram and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
