Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill on Thursday filed a plea in the Lahore High Court, seeking withdrawal of bailable arrest warrant issued by a session court a day ago in a defamation suit against him, reported Dawn.
According to an Aaj News report, the session court issued the warrant after Gill's failure to appear before the court.
According to Dawn report, last year, in a TV show on a private news channel, the SAPM accused a Turkish company M/s Platform Turizm Tasimacilik, which is a subsidiary of Al-Bayrak Group of companies, for signing a Metro bus project with the then Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government on inflated rate.
The company through its counsel Mian Ashfaq Ali filed a defamation case against Gill under sections 499 and 500 of the Pakistan Penal Code for levelling false allegations against the firm, read the report.
According to Aaj News, the counsel maintained the company bore loss of millions of rupees due to Gill's fake allegations.
Later, Gill filed a case against the company maintaining the documents submitted by the company in the defamation case were fabricated.
The Lahore's session court of Additional Session Judge Hasnain Azhar on Wednesday issued bailable arrest warrant of Gill for failure to appear before the court. Judge Azhar ordered the SAPM to appear before the court in next hearing on November 1 and submit surety bonds of Rs30,000.
