In response to the UK court's verdict asking for his and his family's accounts to be unfrozen, PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday neither NAB or FIA could prove the corruption charges against him and his brother Nawaz Sharif.
In a press conference in Lahore, Sharif said that despite leveling allegations of corruption, the PTI government was unable to prove any wrongdoing as the recent UK verdict showed.
PML-N tweeted a link to the press conference on Twitter which can be viewed below.
The PML-N president listed how much he suffered during this government's tenure, being jailed twice for example.
Since the UK’s National Crime Agency presented its investigation report to the Westminster Magistrate Court on Tuesday, asking them to set aside the accounts freezing orders for PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and his son Suleman, Pakistan has been gripped with the back and forth allegations between the two parties.
PML-N says it stands vindicated whereas the ruling party says otherwise.
Sharif lashed out at head of the Asset Recovery Unit Shahzad Akbar who he said is now trying to wash his hands off the case after claiming it was his responsibility.
He was referring to Akbar's press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday wherein he said the investigation by the NCA against Suleman and some of his family members was not initiated at the request of the ARU or NAB.
Akbar said no case was filed against Shehbaz outside the country so the PML-N “projecting this theory” was absolutely wrong. He added that two cases of money laundering against Shehbaz Sharif.
