PTI appears victorious in nationwide cantonment board elections

PTI appears to be the biggest winner in the cantonment board elections held across the nation on Sunday.

According to reports on Aaj TV, PTI has secured 63 seats, closely followed by PML-N which has 59.

The PTI has performed well in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa but has not fared as well in Punjab.

In Sindh, the PTI and the Pakistan Peoples Party have won 14 seats each but the ruling PTI party has secured 14 of the 42 general seats in Karachi, as reported by Dawn.

Aaj News also says PPP won 17, the Jamaat-e-Islami seven and Awami National Party two while independent candidates have secured 52 seats.

MQM has won 10, whereas Balochistan Awami Party secured two.

PTI took to Twitter last night to share videos of celebrations in various parts of the country.

Some also used the opportunity to take note of gains made by other parties.

Here is a breakdown of province wise results as reported by Geo:

PTI won the most number of seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — 18 — followed by 28 in Punjab, 14 in Sindh and three in Balochistan.

PML-N won 51 seats in Punjab, five in KP, three in Sindh and none in Balochistan.

As aforementioned, PPP tied with PTI in Sindh for 14 seats. They won three in KP, and none in Punjab or Balochistan.

Independent candidates secured 32 seats in Punjab, nine in KP, seven in Sindh and four in Balochistan.

MQM won all of its 10 seats in Sindh, while JI won five in Sindh and two in Punjab.

ANP won two seats in KP, whereas BAP won two in Balochistan.
