Veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah has said that the Taliban's return to power in Afghanistan is a cause for concern around the world, and it is no less dangerous for certain sections of Indian Muslims to celebrate their return.
The legendary actor said in a video message that Indian Muslims today should ask themselves whether they want reform and modernization in their religion or the values of savagery of the past centuries.
Referring to Mirza Ghalib’s poem he said his relationship with the almighty is informal.
"My relationship with Allah Mian is very close, I don't need any political religion," he said.
Shah said Indian Islam has been different from the rest of the world and hoped it never changes beyond recognition.
It should be noted that since the capture of Kabul by the Taliban on the 15th of last month, the international community has been concerned about human rights in Afghanistan, especially women's rights.
Many on Twitter slammed Naseerudin Shah for his interpretation of Indian Muslims.
However, one user defended Shah's stance.
