Reports of blast on Ashura procession in Bahawalnagar; 3 dead, 50 injured

At least three people have been reported killed in a blast during an Ashura procession in Bahawalnagar reported Business Recorder, citing foreign media outlets.

Social media is rife with news of the blast and shared videos of ambulances rushing to the scene.

A local Shia leader, Khawar Shafqat, told the Associated Press that the blast occurred when the procession was passing through Muhajir Colony neighbourhood in the southern east part of Punjab.

Bahawalnagar is reported as the 54th largest city in Pakistan.

The journalist for Arab News Naimat Khan shared a video of the police holding a man they have arrested for the crime. Aaj could not independently verify the claims.
