Prime Minister Imran Khan has narrowed his choicce for the prime ministerial role of Azad Jammu Kashmir following the July 25 elections where PTI emerged victorious.
According to Aaj TV on Thursday, Khan met with four candidates to interview them for the position. He had individual meetings with Sultan Mahmood, Khawaja Farooq, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan and Azhar Sadiq, in which he spoke to them about their plans for health, education, tourism and other development and economic issues.
Who are candidates in the lead?
Although four candidates are said to be in the running, most analysts believe the race is between Mahmood and Tanveer.
Sultan Mahmood is a lawyer who joined the PTI in 2015 and secured his seat from Mirpur LA-3 constituency and this is his eighth electoral victory. He has served as prime minister in the past when he was with the Peoples Party.
Sardar Tanveer is a wealthy businessman who secured his seat from Bagh. He is currently an adviser to the Punjab chief minister.
