Islamabad police arrested the parents and household staff of Zahir Zakir Jaffer, the man accused of murdering Noor Mukadam, for their complicity in the crime.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said they arrested the man's parents, businessman Zakir Jaffer, mother Asmat Adamjee and domestic help Iftikhar and Jameel.
Salaar Khan, a lawyer who says he has been retained by Noor's family as part of their legal counsel team, tweeted that the suspect's parents were presented before the magistrate and the police has been granted two day remand.
The police said they are investigating all concerned who may be connected to the case.
In a related development, Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat tweeted that the offices of TherapyWorks has been sealed. This is the organization where Zahir reportedly worked as a therapist though TherapyWorks denies he practiced there, saying he was enrolled in courses he had not yet completed.
in the day Zahir's remand was extended by two days and he has been ordered to appear in court on Monday.
Islamabad IG has also asked the interior ministry to place Zahir's name on the ECL. There are fears he may try to flee as he is a dual national.
