Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Khawaja Asif was on Thursday released on bail in assets beyond mean case.
The PML-N leader was released from Lahore's Jinnah Hospital by prison authorities upon completing their investigation of the release order.
Khawaja Asif will remain in the hospital for a few more days on the advice of doctors.
Three months earlier, PML-N leader Khawaja Asif was shifted from Kot Lakhpat Jail to Jinnah Hospital due to deteriorating health condition and was undergoing treatment since then.
According to Asif's family, he has been released on a court order, but he will remain under treatment for another two to three days on the advice of doctors.
Khawaja Asif was arrested by NAB on December 29, 2020 and later shifted him to Lahore where he was under physical remand till Jan 22. Since then he was under judicial remand till his release today.
The accountability watchdog has accused Asif had failed to explain the sources of his income and assets.
