Like most of the regions of Pakistan, Islamabad has seen a significant dip in the daily positivity rate in the past 3-4 weeks.
In the past 24 hours, 3,337 people were sampled for novel coronavirus infection in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) out of which 25 tested positive. It's the lowest-ever single-day tally reported in the capital in the ongoing third wave which started around mid-March.
ICT'S daily positivity rate also dropped to its lowest value since the beginning of the third wave to 0.7%.
Moreover, Zero deaths were reported in the region yesterday.
As per the latest Covid statistics provided by the federal government, the total documented cases of ICT have reached 82,278 while at least 773 people have been reported to die from the viral infection. The total recoveries have reached 80,289.
Zaeem Zia MD, the current District Health Officer (DHO) Islamabad has urged the public to keep following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) put in place by the local authorities to further curb the spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, the district administration of ICT is amping up the mass vaccination drive across the capital. In this regard, mobile vaccination units have also been established in addition to vaccination centers set up at hospitals, shopping centers, and various other corporate premises to further assist the general population. As per the reports, 22 such mobile units have been set up so far which are administering vaccines to the residents.
DHO Islamabad credits his administration's efforts in the ongoing vaccination campaign to be the reason behind decreased positivity rate.
