Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday criticised the governmnet over Ghotki train accident and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.
Bilawal, addressing the floor of the National Assembly, said that a poor person's life is not safe during travel via the railways. The PPP leader said:
"They (government) are busy in political point-scoring even when an incident like these happen. I want to convey a message to the affectees of the crash: We stand with you and demand answers from the authorities."
PPP leader also took to Twitter to share his request to suspend all other business to discuss the Ghotki accident was denied. In a tweet, he said:
"Today my request [to] suspend all other business to discuss #GhotkiTrainAccident was denied by [the] chair. PM, Railway minister [were] not in [the] NA to answer why in 3 years of this govt we’ve had more train accidents than any other government in [the] history of Pakistan. [I am] shocked at [the] callous attitude of govt."
It is noteworthy the Federal Railways Minister Azam Swati was present in Ghotki to supervise the rescue efforts while the NA session was taking place.
