Pak/ Covid: Only 6 cases of serious side effects of vaccines reported so far, says Dr. Faisal 

Islamabad: Today, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on National Health Services Dr. Faisal Sultan addressed one of the most frequently asked questions regarding the safety profile of coronavirus vaccines being administered in Pakistan.

The SAPM took to social networking site Twitter to inform the general public about how safe the vaccines really are. He shared:

Vaccine safety profile. Out of 3.8 million+ doses, 4,329 reports of adverse effects have been reported so far. Nearly all reports were of mild, expected side effects - 90% involved pain at the site of injection or fever. 

PM's aide who is Pakistan's de-facto health minister further wrote:

Only 6 serious events reported - each investigated thoroughly and each found to be coincidental and non-attributable to vaccine

On Tuesday, Dr. Faisal Sultan also held a presser to address concerns and misinformation about Pakistan's vaccination campaign. He rejected the speculations regarding the non-availability of the Sinopharm vaccine in the country, he said the vaccination campaign will continue without any break.

Sultan said that strict adherence to Covid SOPs is crucial for countering the third wave of COVID-19. He further told that increased compliance of SOPs has started to show its effects as the latest statistics indicate that the number of new cases is decreasing in the country. He also encouraged the public to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest so we can flatten the Covid curve in our country.
