Ali Haider Gillani, son of former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gillani and a member of provincial assembly from Punjab, on Tuesday, has admitted that he met the PTI lawmakers over the Senate elections, 2021.
Ali Gilliani called a press conference after footage of him allegedly meeting with four PTI members and asking them to sell or waste their votes went viral on social media.
Responding to the scandal, he said that he met these lawmakers to secure a vote for his father.
"All the NA members are our constituents. And all of them are honourable for us," he said.
Ali Gillani also denied accusations that he tried to buy votes of the ruling party's members.
"Not just once, I will meet them a hundred times as it is my right to do so," said Gilani and added, "We have sought the 'votes by conscience' in every election. We don't believe in buying or selling votes or securing them through intimidation."
Former premier Yusuf Raza Gillani is contesting for Senate elections from Islamabad against PTI's nominee Hafeez Sheikh.
