Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's (PML-N) senior leader Hamza Shahbaz Sharif was released from Kot Lakhpat jail on Saturday after the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday granted bail to Hamza in the money laundering case.
PML-N's vice president and Hamza's cousin Maryam Nawaz Sharif received him from the jail after he was released.
Hamza, while addressing party workers, said that the PTI-led government could not prove that the PML-N leaders were involved in an "even in a penny's worth of corruption". He added that cases against the opposition parties are a result of the current government's vengeful policies.
Senior PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal also took to Twitter to congratulate Hamza on receiving bail from the court. In a tweet, he said:
"Last year on this day, I and Shahid Khaqan were freed from Adiala Jail on the orders of Islamabad HC after facing Imran Khan’s political victimization. PMLN leaders have been the target of Imran’s vendetta but their resolve has grown stronger. Today Hamza Shahbaz wins freedom too."
