The Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Monday announced that the registration portal is now open for citizens of age 65 and above to enroll for vaccination against coronavirus.
Taking to Twitter, the federal minister said:
"Pleased to announce that registration for getting the covid vaccine is now open for all citizens 65 and above. Just write down ur CNIC number and send a message on 1166. Inshallah vaccinations for this age group will start in March."
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination Dr Faisal Sultan also asked senior citizens to register themselves for the vaccine. Taking to Twitter, Sultan said that the vaccination center and date of appointment will be communicated once the vaccine arrives.
COVID-19 situation in Pakistan:
Pakistan on Monday has reported 1,048 new cases and 26 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.
According to statistics shared by National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the country's nerve center for unified efforts against coronavirus, 32,019 coronavirus tests were taken, 1,048 new confirmed cases were registered, and 26 deaths were reported countrywide in the last 24 hours.
There are currently 1,680 critical patients of COVID-19 admitted at different hospitals in the country.
With these latest statistics, the country's total number of confirmed cases stands at 564,077. Pakistan has so far recorded 12,333 coronavirus related deaths, and a total of 525,997 patients have recovered from the novel disease.
