Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's (PML-N) senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will have to be disbarred from the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) if it decides against the leadership's decision to submit resignations.

The former prime minister made these comments while speaking to the media outside an accountability court in Islamabad. He said that PDM, an 11 party opposition alliance against the PTI-led government, has one-point agenda and that is to run the country in accordance with the constitution.

The former premier talked to media and said expensive petrol and electricity have made the lives of people difficult but the rulers are unconcerned. A tax of Rs15 was imposed on petroleum products during the PML-N tenure which has now increased to Rs40, he added.

“...even nationalist parties have become part of PDM as well,” Abbasi said and added, "These days, petrol is being sold at Rs111 per litre and Rs40 worth of tax is being collected from the people. How can a common man live [with this ongoing inflation]?"

He was referring to Prime Minister Imran Khan's decision to increase of Rs 2.70 in petrol price per litre.

The anti-government coalition in December had announced to give resignations from National and provincial assemblies in a bid to build pressure on the government. However, PPP leadership decided not to haste the resignations.
