The stranded passengers of the Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) seized aircraft in Malaysia will be reaching Pakistan today (Saturday). The passengers will arrive via Emirates and Qatar Airways flights.
According to the details shared by the national flag carrier,118 passengers will arrive at Islamabad airport today at 11 pm via an Emirates flight no EA-614. And rest of the 54 passengers will be brought back via flight no QR-632 at 1:40 am.
A total of 172 passengers were stranded when a PIA aircraft was “held back” in Malaysia over a legal dispute between the airline and a firm pending in a UK court. In a statement, the PIA management shared that the stranded "passengers are being looked after and alternate arrangements for their travel have been finalized."
"A PIA aircraft has been held back by a local court in Malaysia taking one-sided decision pertaining to a legal dispute between PIA and another party pending in a UK court. The passengers are being looked after and alternate arrangements for their travel have been finalized. It is an unacceptable situation and PIA has engaged the support from the Government of Pakistan to take up this matter using diplomatic channels."
