The federal government on Wednesday issued a notification to remove Amir Zulfiqar as Inspector General of Police (IGP) federal territory and appointed Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman in his stead.
According to the notification of Cabinet Secretariat Establishment Division, Qazi Jamil-ur-Rehman, a BS-20 officer of Police Service of Pakistan presently serving under the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been transferred and posted as the new IGP, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police, under Interior Division.
The move came a few days after Usama Nadeem Satti, a young student, was shot on Islamabad’s Srinagar Highway by the police, allegedly after he ignored police warnings to stop.
