Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on health, Dr. Zafar Mirza took to twitter today praising the efforts of Punjab government in containing the corona cases in the province. He said:
Punjab has done a commendable job in reducing coronavirus cases. On June 13, 2,705 new cases were reported in the province. Now the number has reduced to 372. An 85% reduction is seen in new cases. On June 9, 25% of the total tests were positive which has come down to 5%.
Former WHO employee also warned the public regarding the possible spike of COVID-19 cases during the Eid holidays in these words:
However, the challenge isn't over yet. On Eid-ul-Adha, we all have to work twice as hard.
Responding to Mirza's tweet, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar replied:
We've set up cattle markets in all the districts outside the city under specific SOPs, mass sacrifices are being encouraged, and random testing of sellers will also be conducted. In sha Allah, if the citizens continue to take precautionary measures then we will be quite successful in defeating this outbreak.
