Kiran Rao speaks about women being paid less than men

WEB DESK: Influential people often seen highlighting the issue of gender equality on various platforms. People, however, admit that it is an injustice and it both genders should given equal rights.

Recently this issue was raised again when wife of Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan, director-producer Kiran Rao spoke about inequality among genders on so many levels and paying less to women is one of them.

On the trailer launch of her production, 'secret superstar', Rao did not hold back but told the truth that women have to work extremely hard for the thing served to men on platter. And, they always positioned on second number.

“Historically, girls and women have been suppressed. It’s known to all that for 1000 years, women have been given second position. Not in India, but abroad, we saw that even voting rights women got after a long time. We got all kind of rights quite late. All over the world, women have to struggle to get their rights and recognition. If we talk about pay, the fact that women have to fight for ‘equal pay for equal work’ is shameful,” Rao said on the occasion.

Along with this, she urged girls to move forward and pursue dreams despite any sort of circumstances,"I just want to tell women that the best message through this film is that don’t be scared to dream. Don’t be scared to desire or want things. It’s your right to have freedom, to follow your heart and dreams.”

The film 'secret star' is Kiran and Aamir's co-production. And Aamir along side his Dangal co-star Zaira Wasim will be seen in it. The flick is slated to be released on October 19.
