WEB DESK: Cooking can be a fun and therapeutic activity but it could be stressful at times. Specially when you put so much effort and it comes out tasting bad. You won't believe, but sometimes it is the salt that becomes problematic.Â
Although it is the most common ingredient but it too has timings and it tastes only well when added on right stage. Here is a little guide in this regard to make your meals even more tastier.
Rice
Rice is everyone's favorite and making plain boil rice is easiest. But, always remember to add salt at the beginning. As it starts to cook, rice become thick and adding salt at this stage may make it stick to rice which would taste really bad.
Pasta
Cooking pasta is similar to cooking rice, you will have to add salt at the start. Adding salt at first stage of boiling water boosts the flavor of pasta although a little amount usually goes in it but it makes a huge difference.
Meat
Since cooking meat is a bit time taking but make sure that you would add not just salt but all the other spices at the beginning because once the meat starts cooking, it contracts and becomes difficult to absorb the aroma of spices and flavor.
The Beans
While preparing beans, it is a tradition to add salt at first but it makes the cooking process slow. It is annoying special if you are hungry however, to enjoy tastier beans wait till it cooks by traditional method as it was proved correct by different experiments.
Sauteing Onion
Onions, the essential ingredient to almost every recipe. But it is necessary to know too that salt has properties which take out moisture from things and when you add it to the vegetables, it softens them. However, add salt depending on your choice, for dark and golden onions add salt in the end whereas to stop them from browning, add salt at the beginning.
