IIFA awards concluded, Amir's Dangal was nowhere

WEB DESK: Amir Khan starrer Dangal went excellent on box office and later gained immense appreciation in China as well. But, questions were being raised when it wasn't nominated in any category at IIFA awards.

Recently, a grand IIFA awards event held in New York. Neerja was declared best film, Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were given 'best actor' awards for 'Udta Punjab'. And, the Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury won best direction award for 'Pink'.

However, the Dangal fans were left in disappointment as Dangal was not nominated in of the following categories.

Later, the organizers revealed reason behind it as they said the makers of film did not send it in an entry for 18th IIFA Weekend and Awards.

A statement was also released by the organizers of IIFA awards, when questions were raised on credibility of the awards as censor board chief Pahlaj Nihalani named this entire episode an ‘international farce'.

Director – Wizcraft International, Andre Timmins said,"So basically, in IIFA, forms are sent to various production houses. They fill those forms up and send it back to us. Those forms are then put out to the industry for voting and from there it becomes a nomination. Dangal has not sent their entry in. We would love Dangal to be a part of it. I think it’s a movie that’s broken all records. We love Amir Khan and the two little girls. They did a great job. But unfortunately, they didn’t send their entry in. We feel sad."
