Top 10 Bollywood movies that are Hollywood rip-offs

Since the last few decades, Indian movie industry has been famous for imitating the Hollywood movies. Most of the famous movies are completely inspired and scripted from Hollywood. In some of the movies, the plotting is same with a little innovation. This act of imitating is known as plagiarism which means stealing the ideas or thoughts of another author.

If you ever watch both of movies you would notice that how close these movies are. Here are some Indian movies who are the rip off of some Hollywood movies.

Race (2008) - Goodbye Lover (1998)

The fourth highest grossing Bollywood film of 2008 Race is an adaptation of Goodbye Lover.

Phir Hera Pheri (2006) - Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)

The movie that made you Burst Out Of Laughing in 2006, “Phir Hera Pheri” was stolen from famous movie “Lock, stock and Two Smoking barrels”. Even some of the dialogs were also copied.

 Munnabhai MBBS (2003) - Patch Adams (1998)

The movie which collected Rs. 24crores at the Box Office in 2003 and also won National Film Award for Best Popular film in 2004, Munnabhai MBBS, was a remake of Patch Adams.

Sarkar (2005) - The Godfather (1972)

Indian film Sarkar was a straight inspiration of The Godfather.  These two movies have far-fetched resemblance.

Chachi 420 (1997) - Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

Our all time favourite comedy movie Chachi 420 was copied from the Hollywood movie Mrs. Doubtfire but with little plot difference.

Hum Tum (2004) - When Harry Met Sally (1989)

The Indian romantic comedy film Hum Tum is loosely based on Hollywood movie When Harry Met Sally. Hum Tum has won many Filmfare Awards.

Badshah (1999) - Nick of time (1995)

King khan’s famous movie Badshah was actually imitated from Nick of Time. There are many scenes which are just same. Badshah is a fusion of many other movies like Rush Hour, If Looks Could Kill, Mr Nice Guy, The Mask.

Dhamaal (2007) - It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963)

The fun-filled movie Dhamaal was plagarised from the American movie The Mad, Mad, Mad,Mad World. It was also influenced by contemporary movies like Road Trip, Bean-The Movie, Mr. Bean, Rat, Race, Dude, Where’s My Car? And Jonny English.

Baazigar (1993) - A Kiss Before Dying (1991)

Both of these movies revolve around same plot and character, in which a man takes his revenge from a billionaire by having relation with his daughter.

Awaara Pagal Deewana (2002) - The whole Nine yards (2000)

The plot of hilarious and thrilling movie Awaara Pagal deewana is straightly ripped off from Bruce Willis’s movie The Whole Nine Yards specially action scenes which are a straight copy.

 

SRK’s new movie ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal” is also suspected to be a copy of ‘When Harry Met Sally” because the title is so close. But SRK denied it.

Some filmmakers give credit to Hollywood movies while some not.
