WEB DESK: Everyone carries a wallet filled with necessary cards, receipts and even cash. But isn't it frustrating losing your important cards? Or in even worse case, someone stole your wallet and you lose all the necessary cards or receipts.Â
Keeping such issues and security concerns in mind, you have found out five things that you should never keep in wallet.
Social Security Card
You shouldn't have carry social security card because losing it can be a frightening experience. According to the vice president of consumer protection at credit reporting company, Experian, Michael Bruemmer, “Your Social Security number is the most vital piece of information for identity thieves, and the damage resulting from identity theft can impact your finances for years to come."
Birth Certificate or Passport
It is suggested to keep your passport and birth certificate in locker even if you at home. Never keep it in your wallet during travelling but leave it in your room's locker. Bruemmer more adds here,"Like your Social Security number, these items contain some vital, personally identifiable information, and losing these will make it all too easy for thieves to steal your identity."
Extra Credit Cards
Keeping cash for basic necessities is understandable but keeping all your credit cards in wallet all the time is a foolish act. Experts says,"If your wallet is stolen and you have eight credit cards in it, that means you will have to cancel eight credit cards, dispute with eight different card companies if fraud does occur, as well as reset any autopay you had for those eight cards," adding,"The more cards you carry, the more opportunities you are giving a thief to steal your money or information, and the more work you are putting on yourself to reestablish accounts after a theft.â€
PINs and Passwords
People usually note down their pins and passwords, just in case if they forgot them and keep it in wallets too. According to Bruemmer, "this information should always be left at home in a secure place."
Checks
If you prefer writing checks, don't carry checkbooks with you. As in this way, thieves may have complete access to your bank account which is horrific, adds Bruemmer.
