Do you crave for junk food at night too ?

WEB DESK: Who doesn't love junk food? Whether its oven hot pizzas or double cheese burgers served with scrumptious fries, one can't say no to it. It is pretty normal to crave for junk food despite its all negative aspects, people still prefer it occasionally.

But it is not healthy to a slice of pizza at night when your not able to sleep, it is alarming in such case. Also, not sleeping at night and craving for junk are relatable.

Earlier, it was thought that eating fast food will give you instant energy that body requires. However, a new research presented at the Cognitive Neuroscience Society’s annual meeting in San Francisco shows that sleep deprivation actually increases the brain’s sensitivity to food smells.

A preliminary study conducted by Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago explains that participants who slept only four hours showed greater brain activity in response to food smells, like potato chips and doughnuts, compared to when they’d slept a full eight hours.

A co-author of study states,“When tired, participants showed greater brain activity in two areas involved in olfaction—the piriform cortex and the orbitofrontal cortex—in response to food smells than they did when well rested. That spike wasn’t seen in response to nonfood odors."
