'Begum Jaan' not to release in Pakistan

WEB DESK: The Indian movies are allowed to be released in Pakistan in order to build a firm relation with neighbour country.

There are films made in India who are really good and got plenty of appreciation from people of Pakistan. However, recently an issue is being circulating about Mahesh Butt's movie Begum Jaan that it will not be released in Pakistan.

While talking to Mid-day, the producer expressed his views over the ban on movie in Pakistan and said,"I was told by my distributor that Pakistan, as a policy, does not permit the import of films dealing with the issue of Partition. I requested the key officer of the Pakistan censor board to at least view the film and then take a decision. I was assured they would look into the matter. Sadly, I have not heard from them since. My distributor informs me that his office has been intimated that Begum Jaan won't be imported into Pakistan."

He more said that,"I did not look at Pakistan just as a market to sell my wares. Yes, when Begum Jaan was not viewed by their Censor Board, I was ridiculed by some of my close associates. That did hurt."

The movie has versatile Vidya balan in lead role and according to times of India it was supposed to be released on 14th April.
