Imran steps up pressure on Zardari ahead of elections

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Sunday lambasted the Sindh government for removing A.D. Khowaja as Inspector General Police Sindh, saying "it was done because Khowaja refused to facilitate corruption and the corrupts."

Speaking at a PTI rally in Talagang, Imran said: "I just read with dismay that A.D. Khowaja was relieved as the IG Sindh, not because he was involved in illegal activities, but because he was stopping others from committing illegal activities."

Taking a more precise aim at the PPP, Imran said, "Sharjeel Memon has the Rs5 billion case corruption case registered against him. Dr Asim [Hussain] has the Rs460bn corruption case registered against him, whereas the total development budget of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is worth Rs113bn."

Addressing the charged crowd, the PTI chief took a jibe at the PPP-P co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, suggesting that he should get his matters sorted before the next general elections.

"If you [Zardari] want to compete in the next elections then be get ready as we will, definitely, question from where you got $7million in Switzerland. So Asif Zardari, may be you should also get yourself a Qatari prince," Imran added.

PPP's reaction:

Meanwhile, PPP's Senator Saeed Ghani, in response to Imran's outburst against his party leaders, said that Imran Khan has turned into a psychopath as his own party founder leaders have approached Election Commission to lodge complaints about his (Imran) corruption.

He said that Imran Khan's father was dismissed from his service on corruption charges. Now, he wants other people to forget his father's sins by making hue and cry and levelling false accusations against others.

Senator Ghani accused Imran Khan of blackmailing the saint-like figure, late Abdus Sattar Edhi, in connivance with the late General Hameed Gul. "It is a known fact that hardened terrorists were treated in his hospital, but ironically no case was initiated against Imran Khan for aiding and supporting terrorists," the PPP Senator added.-Business Recorder
