LARKANA:  The 36th death anniversary of founder-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and former prime minister Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was observed with great reverence and respect here on Saturday.

Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) and PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) arranged functions separately in this regard.

Quran Khawani and fateha khawani were  held in every part  of the country for the departed soul of Shaheed Z.A. Bhutto.

People from all walks of life in their messages on the occasion paid rich tribute to Shaheed Bhutto for his services for the cause of poor and downtrodden people and for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

The main death anniversary function in-front of the mausoleum of martyrs of Bhutto Family, at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto, was cancelled due to the rainy and rough weather in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, and  a limited gathering was held at Bhutto House Naudero, in which leaders and workers of PPP of participated. On this occasion Quran Khawani was also held at the mazar of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

In this connection, former chief minister Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah, Sardar Yaqoob Khan, former prime minister AJK Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, Sindh Chief Minister and President PPP Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Ex- federal interior minister Rehman Malik, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Manzoor Watto, Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, Sindh Senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sindh Minister for Jails Manzoor Hussain Wassan, former federal ministers, former provincial ministers  also visited the graves of the founder- chairman of PPP Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

They placed a floral wreaths at the graves and offered fateha.

The central leaders, leaders and workers of PPPP from all over the country, were also among those who placed floral wreaths and offered fateha on Shaheed leaders graves in Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto.

Besides, former federal ministers, Senators, MNAs, MPAs belonging  to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and the Federal Council (F.C) of PPPP also visited the mazars of Shaheed Z.A Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and others and offered fateha and placed floral wreaths.

They also visited the Mazar of slain chairperson of PPP Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and placed  floral wreaths and offered fateha.

They also visited the graves of former chairperson of PPP and former first lady, Madar-e-Jamhooriat late Begum Nusrat Bhutto, Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Shaheed Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto, laid floral wreaths and offered fateha.

Workers and leaders of PPP and workers of its sister organisations besides Bhutto's admirers arrived Garhi Khuda Bakhsh  Bhutto from all over the country and laid floral wreaths and offered fateha at the mazar of their leader.

The programme of the anniversary started from a Mushaira at Bhutto House Naudero. The prominent poets from Sindh, Punjab and other parts of the country,  paid tribute to Shaheed Bhutto in poetic form.

Former president and Co-Chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari, Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed  Ahmed Shah, Senator Aitzaz Ahsan, Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, Sindh Senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, MNA and District President PPP Larkana Muhammad Ayaz Soomro and others addressing a death anniversary function at Bhutto House Naudero on the Saturday,  paid  homage to the  services of Shaheed Bhutto for the country, the democratic order and rights of the masses.

They reiterated their pledge to carry forward the mission for which Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto laid down his life.

They also paid rich tributes to  Shaheed chairperson of PPP Benazir Bhutto on her great sacrifice  only for the survival of the poor people.

They added that the present provincial government was established due to the sacrifices of  Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and it will work for the betterment of poor people in the country.

Peoples Doctors Forum (PDF) Larkana district, District Health Department and CMC Hospital Larkana  established free medical camps to provide medical assistance to  participants of the death anniversary.

On the other hand the leaders and workers of PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) visited Garhi Khuda Bakhsh  Bhutto to offer fateha and place floral wreaths on the grave of Shaheed Zulfikar  Ali Bhutto. They also visited the graves of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Shaheed Mir Shahnawaz Bhutto and offered fateha.

Later, Chairperson of PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) Ms Ghinwa Bhutto and other central leaders of PPP (Shaheed Bhutto) also addressed a big public meeting in connection with the 36th death anniversary of  Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto on Saturday.

Senior police officers of Sindh Police had established a base camp in Naudero to monitor security arrangements and also visited  Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto.

Foolproof security arrangements had been made to maintain order and thwart  any untoward incident. More than 7500 personnel  of police and rangers were deployed in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto, Naudero and its adjoining areas.

Police and rangers used 200 vehicles and 100 motorcycles to patrol the area under the supervision of senior police officers, while police had  set up pickets along roads leading to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to guide the caravans of people.

Besides close circuit cameras, walk-through gates and other security equipment had been installed at entry and exit points of the mausoleum and routes leading to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.

Ambulances and fire tenders were also deployed and first aid camps set up.

The security arrangements were intensive, with heavy deployment of police and rangers.

Wing Commander Shahbaz Rangers Larkana,  DIG Police Larkana Zone, Dr. Sain Rakhio Mirani, Commissioner Larkana Division Dr. Saeed Ahmed Magnejo, Deputy Commissioner  Jaweed Ahmed Jagirani, SSP and other senior police officers  supervised the security arrangements vigilantly.
