Loadshedding to end from Tuesday: Qamar

Responding to various questions of legislators in National Assembly he said the issue of circular debt of Independent Power Producers (IPPs) would also be resolved within a next few days.

He said the people's government has so far added 3272 mw in the national grid. A number of reforms have also been introduced to resolve the power crisis in the country.

The line losses are being reduced persistently. Elaborating he said during the year 2008-09 line losses were 21.1 percent.

During 2009-10 the line losses were 20.9 percent and the losses were further reduced to 20.7 percent during 2010-11.

Plan has been finalised to produce to 88,480 mw power in next 14 years, he said.

Presently, 14 hydro power projects with cumulative capacity of 5413 mw are being implemented by private sector.

Replying to the question of Rana Mehmood ul Hassan he said a total of Rs 565.16 million has been collected by Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC) since 2008 at the rate of Rs 35per month (domestic) and 60 pm (commercial) respectively.

The KESC has deposited a sum of Rs 39,451,690,216 as sales tax from Oct 2008 to Dec 2011, he said.

Replying to the question of Wasim Akhtar Sheikh he said the feasibility study of generating 405 mw power from coal has been completed. The MoU was signed by Sindh government and China National Machinery import and export corporation (CMC).
