IJT convention begins at PU after 8 years

A number of students from the Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkha, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan are participating in the general convention which would conclude on October 17.

The convention started with the presidential address of IJT Nazim-e-Aala Syed Abdul Rashid who highlighted the IJT's struggle for the rights of the Muslim youth since its inception in 1947.

An international session was held with Qazi Hussain Ahmed, former Ameer of Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan while representatives from various Islamic organizations and political parties from Turkey, Sudan, Egypt, SaudiArab, Bengladesh and Iran participated in the programme. They stressed the need to forge unity among the Muslim Ummah especially.

On the second day, on Sunday, the major event would be a "National Session" to be chaired by the JI Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan. Leaders from all political and religious parties including Senator Raza Rabbani, Senator Raja Zafarul Haq, Javed Hashmi and others would address the participants.
