Secretary Social Welfare, Women Development and Bait-ul- Maal Shah Nawaz Badar, in an exclusive interview with APP here, on Friday said these committees after their term expiry had become non-functional.
He said that process of revival of remaining committees, four in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala and Bhakkar districts, was in progress and likely to be notified in the third week of instant month. He said that a high level meeting in this regard has already been convened to finalise the name of its members.
He said when the matter was brought to the knowledge of the Chief Minister about the non-functioning of these committees, he directed to reactivate district committees throughout the province on priority basis to ensure immediate financial assistance to needy and deserving people.
Punjab Secretary said that concerned divisional commissioners, District Co-Ordination officers, officers of Social Welfare, Women Development and Bait-ul-Maal and other dignitaries had been directed to recommend names of people with high integrity and excellent repute in their areas for members of the committees.
Shah Nawaz Badar said the committees would work directly under provincial Bait-ul-Maal Committee headed by "Amin" appointed by the government for a period of three years.
