Pakistan is set to host its first-ever Pakistan Influencer Awards (PIA), offering a formal platform to recognise social media influencers and content creators across the country.

The awards will recognise creators for their creative work and achievements across various digital platforms. Popular vloggers Amtal Bawija and Fahad Tariq, known for their vlog Patan Geer, will host the ceremony.

Bawija, who said she had been associated with the field for the past eight years, expressed pride at being selected to host the country’s first influencer awards.

She said she had not initially imagined that she would one day represent the digital community by hosting Pakistan’s first influencer awards.

The initiative aims to strengthen Pakistan’s content-creation industry and provide digital creators with a formal platform to showcase and receive recognition for their work.

Chief curator Talha Aslam said at an event on July 27 that the initiative sought to create a healthy and competitive environment in which Pakistan’s content industry could develop according to international standards.

More than 30 categories

The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 7 and will feature prizes in more than 30 categories.

Special awards will include Creator of the Year and Emerging Creator for YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.

Awards will also recognise creators working in areas including fashion, tourism, beauty, lifestyle, fitness, gaming, music, parenting and entertainment.

How nominees will be selected

Organisers have devised a multi-stage process to select the nominees and finalists.

The first 20 candidates in each category will be shortlisted with the help of an algorithm. The results will then be verified through market research.

A jury comprising established content creators will select 10 candidates from the initial 20.

In the second stage, a jury of experts from the marketing and advertising sectors will select five finalists.

The final winners will be decided by the public through online voting, which is scheduled to begin in October.

With content creation increasingly becoming a career choice among young Pakistanis, organisers and experts expect the awards to encourage emerging talent and promote the positive use of social media.

The initiative is also aimed at presenting Pakistan’s growing digital-content industry and its creators to a wider global audience.
