The investigation into the death of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza took a significant turn on Monday after investigators found traces of acid and other potentially crucial evidence during a forensic examination of his body and belongings, sources said.

According to investigative sources, traces of acid were found in Mir Raza’s stomach, which severely affected his lungs.

Acid has also affected Mir Raza’s hands and feet, the sources added.

The sources said that traces of another person’s sweat were also found on Mir Raza’s shirt.

Samples have been sent for DNA and chemical analysis, with investigators awaiting the report.

Evidence collected from the victim’s hands and feet is also being examined to help determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

Meanwhile, police have sealed a suspicious guesthouse located near the site where Mir Raza’s body was recovered.

Six employees of the guesthouse have been taken into custody as investigators seek to establish what happened there on the night of the incident.

A total of 21 people have so far been detained in connection with the case, including some of Mir Raza’s close friends and business partners, the sources said.

The detained individuals have been given separate questionnaires, and their detailed statements have been recorded, according to police sources.

Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain, meanwhile, said the Sindh home minister and Karachi mayor had suggested forming a judicial commission headed by a high court judge during a meeting with the family.

He said the family would carefully consider the proposal before making a final decision.

However, the family’s lawyer, Jibran Nasir, later told the media that Mir Raza’s parents had rejected the proposal for a judicial commission and had conveyed their decision to the authorities in writing.

Nasir said the family wanted the police investigation team to be allowed to carry out its work in accordance with the law and believed there was currently no need for a judicial commission.

Mir Hussain also expressed confidence in the new investigation committee formed by police to probe his son’s death.

He praised committee head DIG Aamir Farooqi, describing him as a well-reputed officer, and said he hoped the new team would uncover the facts and conduct a transparent investigation.

The victim’s father also revealed that Mir Raza’s business partner had allegedly gone missing under mysterious circumstances following the incident.

He expressed concern that the previous police investigation team had questioned him only once and that the family had not been informed about the nature of the investigation conducted with the guesthouse employees.

Mir Hussain also questioned why CCTV footage from the guesthouse had not yet been made public.

He said the family hoped the new investigation team would examine all aspects of the case and ensure that those responsible for his son’s death were brought to justice.
